All About Gwyn
Gwyn is a passionate agility trainer who rekindled her love for the sport when her Border Collie, Finn, came into her life in 2011. Finn's natural talent and their strong partnership taught Gwyn valuable lessons in relationship building, which became the foundation of her training philosophy. In 2014, Amigo joined their team, taking Gwyn to new heights in the agility world. Through national competitions, Gwyn discovered the benefits of canine massage, particularly Trigger Point therapy, which enhanced her dogs' physical well-being after rigorous events.
Gwyn's training approach revolves around solid foundations and understanding the basics before delving into advanced techniques. She believes in keeping training sessions challenging yet enjoyable, never trying to outsmart the dog but rather working together as a team. Gwyn understands that each dog learns differently, so she tailors her methods to suit individual needs, incorporating various approaches, strategies, rewards, and session lengths.
Over the years, Gwyn and her dogs have achieved remarkable success in agility competitions, including podium finishes, national championships, and international accolades. Despite her competitive achievements, Gwyn's primary focus remains on helping each team reach their partnership goals, whether they aspire to compete at a high level or simply enjoy agility as a bonding activity. She emphasizes excellent foundations, addresses training gaps, and ensures a fun yet challenging experience while prioritizing safety for the dogs. Gwyn's dedication and expertise make her a trusted mentor for agility canine athletes of all levels.
Gwyn has worked with local, Regional, and international agility professionals to further her education and success. Shawna Richgels, Ann Braue, Silas Boogk, John Nys, Desiree Snellman to name a few, and her current coaches, Jessica Ajoux and Perry DeWitt of UDog Agility based in PA.
